Clear Cache

The “Clear Cache” function allows you to delete locally stored cache files for an EIBPORT.

BAB STARTER uses a cache to store previously loaded content from Java-based applications locally, allowing them to launch faster when opened again.

Clearing the cache can be particularly helpful if applications fail to start correctly, content is displayed incorrectly, or outdated content continues to appear after an update.

Clear Cache Using BAB STARTER

To clear the cache for a device, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Device Menu of the desired EIBPORT.

  2. Select “Details”.

  3. Click “Clear Cache” to remove the locally stored cache files for the selected device.

The required content will be downloaded from the device again the next time the corresponding Java application is launched.

Manually Clear Cache on Windows

Alternatively, you can delete the cache files directly using Windows File Explorer.

  1. Open Windows File Explorer.

  2. Navigate to the current user's temporary directory:

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp

  3. Locate the “bab-starter” folder and open the “cached” directory inside it.

  4. This directory contains device-specific subfolders named after the respective serial numbers, for example, BTxxxxxxxxxx.

  5. Delete the folder corresponding to the serial number of the desired device.

If multiple devices are managed using BAB STARTER, a separate cache folder is created for each device.

Deleting a device-specific folder removes only the cache files stored within that folder.

Manually Clear Cache on macOS

On macOS, cache files can also be removed directly using Finder.

  1. Open Finder.

  2. Navigate to your user home directory.

  3. Open the “eibPort” folder.

  4. Locate the subfolder named after the serial number of the desired device.

  5. Delete the corresponding folder to remove the device's cache files.

The required content will be loaded again the next time the Java application is launched.

Note

Close all open Java applications before manually deleting cache files. Clearing the cache does not affect the EIBPORT configuration or stored device data. Only locally cached application files are removed.

Note

Cache file locations may vary depending on the operating system and the BAB STARTER version. Therefore, we recommend using the integrated “Clear Cache” function whenever possible.
