Scope of Functions

The BAB STARTER provides a central interface for discovering and managing BAB TECHNOLOGIE devices and launching their applications. The available functions depend on the respective device and its firmware version.

General Functions

  • Search for Devices on the Network: Automatically discover compatible BAB TECHNOLOGIE devices on the local network (“Search for Devices on the Network”).

  • Add Devices Manually: Add devices using their IP address (“Add Devices Manually”).

  • Test Virtual Devices: Connect to and test virtual devices (“Test Virtual Devices”).

  • Display Device Information: View available device and network information (“Device Menu”).

  • Change Network Settings: Modify the network configuration of supported devices (“Change Network Settings”).

  • Launch Java Applications: Directly launch compatible Java-based editors and applications without requiring a local Java installation.

  • Select User Interfaces: Use either the previous or the new user interface with supported EIBPORT firmware versions (version 3.9.6 or later).

Device-Specific Functions

EIBPORT

The following EIBPORT functions and applications can be accessed via BAB STARTER:

  • JAVA CONTROL Visualization

  • CONTROL L Visualization

  • CUBEVISION Visualization

  • CONTROL S Visualization

  • EIBPORT Editor

  • CUBEVISION Editor / PROJECT MANAGER

  • System Configuration

  • HOOC Gateway Manager

  • Logic Editor

  • ComponentBuilder 2

  • Check important device parameters (“Check Settings”)

  • Accelerated EIBPORT startup (“Accelerate EIBPORT Startup”)

  • Automatic startup of the JAVA CONTROL Visualization (“Autostart Settings”)

CUBEVISIONMODULE / CUBEVISIONMODULE X

The following functions are available for CUBEVISIONMODULE devices:

  • Launch CUBEVISION Visualization

  • Open CUBEVISION Editor / PROJECT MANAGER

  • Open Device Configuration

  • Open EnOcean Editor

Other Supported Devices

Depending on the respective device and its firmware version, additional applications and editors, such as those for CUBEVISIONMODULE X, FACILITYMASTER, and LINKMODULE, can be launched via BAB STARTER.

Supported Devices

The BAB STARTER discovery function enables automatic detection and display of the following BAB TECHNOLOGIE products on the local network:

The functions available for a detected device depend on its device type and installed firmware version.

Note – Network Configuration Across Different IP Subnets

For supported devices running firmware versions released in November 2019 or later, network settings can be modified even if the device and the configuration computer are located in different IP address ranges.

This eliminates the need to manually adjust the configuration computer's network settings to match the device's factory-default IP configuration.

This feature is not supported by DUODMX GATEWAY, AUDIOMODULE, DATALOGGER, or KNXCONVERTER.

Note – Using Multiple Applications Simultaneously

Multiple Java-based applications can be opened simultaneously for more efficient and flexible operation. This allows users to access different editors or device functions in parallel without having to close an application first.
