KNXnet/IP Routing – Filter

When KNXnet/IP Routing is enabled, filter and transmission rules can be configured for KNX communication.

These rules determine which group addresses are transmitted between KNXnet/IP and KNX.

Up to 10 transmission rules can be defined for both the transmit and receive directions.

Transmission Rules

Transmission rules can be used to filter communication between KNXnet/IP and KNX and, if required, map group addresses to different addresses.

This can be used, for example, to:

  • selectively forward specific group address ranges,

  • filter unnecessary telegrams,

  • avoid address conflicts,

  • map physical group addresses to virtual group addresses.

The wildcard character * can be used when defining rules.

Depending on its position, the wildcard represents the corresponding part of the KNX group address.

Examples

Rule

Meaning

*/*/* -> */*/*

All group addresses are transmitted unchanged.

6/*/* -> 6/*/*

All group addresses in main group 6 are transmitted unchanged.

7/*/* -> 17/*/*

All group addresses in main group 7 are mapped to virtual main group 17.

*/*/1 -> */*/1

Group addresses with sub-address 1 are forwarded accordingly.

Warning

If no filter rules are configured, telegrams are not filtered. This corresponds to unrestricted forwarding, as with the filter rule */*/* -> */*/*.

In this case, all group addresses are transmitted in both directions.

Use filter rules if KNX communication is to be restricted selectively or if group addresses are to be mapped.
