KNXnet/IP Routing

KNXnet/IP Routing allows KNX telegrams to be transmitted via an IP network.

Communication is based on multicast. KNXnet/IP Routing uses the multicast address 224.0.23.12.

Note

KNXnet/IP Routing only works if the network components involved allow multicast communication between the corresponding participants.

In more complex network structures, additional configuration of switches or routers may be required.

The function can be enabled under KNXnet/IP Routing.

Depending on the configuration, it may be necessary to use a physical address corresponding to a line coupler or area coupler.

Note on the Physical Address

A prerequisite for using KNXnet/IP Routing is a physical address that matches the KNX topology.

The physical address of the LOGIKMODULE must correspond to the address structure of an area coupleror line coupler:

  • Area coupler: x.0.0

  • Line coupler: x.y.0

Here, x and y represent the corresponding area and line numbers within the KNX topology.

The parameters for KNXnet/IP Routing can only be configured and used if a corresponding valid physical address has been assigned.
