Creating ESF Data

ESF data for linking KNX group addresses in the DMX Configurator can be created in several different ways.

Creating ESF Data from EIBPORT

Starting with firmware version 1.0.2 (Version 3), the EIBPORT provides the option to export group addresses as an ESF file.

Proceed as follows:

1. Create the required group addresses in the EIBPORT.

2. Open "Editor" → "Tools" → "ESF Upload & Data Management".

3. Export the group addresses as an ESF file.

Creating ESF Data with ETS

Alternatively, ESF data can be generated using ETS.

To do so, you need the application of a device that supports 1-bit or 1-byte communication objects.

Then proceed as follows:

1. Link the required group addresses to the corresponding communication objects.

2. Export the data as an ESF file.

Creating or Editing an ESF File Manually

An ESF file can also be created or modified manually.

Open an existing ESF file containing 1-bit and 1-byte communication objects using a text editor.

You can then modify the file according to the existing syntax to match the required group addresses and data point types.
