Volume Control

In this section, you configure the KNX group addresses and settings used to control the volume of the selected Bluesounddevice or group.

Absolute Volume (EIS 6, 0–100%)

Enter the group address used to set the absolute volume. The received percentage value is converted into a volume level between 0% and 100% and immediately transmitted to the Bluesound device.

If Volume for Linked Speakers is enabled, the command is also sent to all linked group members.

Absolute Volume – Status (EIS 6, 0–100%)

Enter the group address from which the current volume of the selected Bluesound device is reported.

The reported value ranges from 0% to 100%.

Relative Volume Control (EIS 1)

Enter the group address used for stepwise volume adjustment.

Each received telegram increases or decreases the volume by the configured step size.

The adjustment is performed using the Bluesound device's relative dB scale.

Step Size (1–20)

Defines the amount by which the volume is increased or decreased for each telegram received via the relative volume control.

The valid range is 1 to 20. The default value is 1.

Start/Stop Dimming (EIS 2, Relative Dimming)

Enter the group address used for continuous relative volume control.

When an increase or decrease telegram is received, the Smart Home App continuously adjusts the volume until a stop telegram is received.

During this process, a new volume value is sent to the Bluesound device every 220 ms. The required step size is calculated automatically based on the configured dimming duration.

Step Dimming (EIS 2, Relative Dimming)

Enter the group address used for stepwise relative volume control.

The direction contained in the EIS 2 telegram determines whether the volume is increased or decreased. The transmitted step value defines the amount of the volume change.

Volume Dimming Duration (1,000–22,000 ms)

Defines the duration required for a complete Start/Stop dimming operation from 0% to 100% or from 100% to 0%.

The valid range is 1,000 to 22,000 ms. The default value is 4,000 ms.

Since BluOS does not provide a native command for continuous volume changes, the Smart Home App calculates the required step size automatically. During dimming, a new relative volume value is sent to the Bluesound device every 220 ms.

For the finest possible adjustment, where the volume changes by one step at a time, use a dimming duration of 22,000 ms.

Mute (EIS 1)

Enter the group address used to mute the device.

Muting does not pause or stop playback. Instead, the Bluesound device uses its internal mute function. The previous volume level is retained and restored when mute is disabled.

Mute – Status (EIS 1)

Enter the group address from which the current mute state is reported.

Volume for Linked Speakers

Enable this option if absolute volume, relative volume, and mute commands should also be forwarded to speakers already linked to the selected device.

If disabled, only the selected device or the primary device is controlled.
