Data points form the interface between logic groups and external or internal data sources in the LOGIKEDITOR.
Data points can be used to receive values from connected systems, process them within logic groups, and then transmit them to other systems or functions.
Depending on the interface used, different data point types are available, for example:
-
KNX data points
-
Internal and REST data points
-
Modbus TCP data points
-
MQTT data points
A key advantage of this concept is that logic groups can be created largely independently of the data source used.
Whether a value originates from KNX, Modbus TCP, MQTT, or an internal or REST-based source is generally irrelevant to the actual processing within the logic group. The data points provide the interface to the respective source, while the logic elements work with the values made available to them.
This allows logic configurations to be created flexibly and, if required, transferred to other data sources or combined with different interfaces.
The configuration of a data point determines, among other things:
-
which source or interface is used,
-
which values are received or transmitted,
-
how the values are interpreted,
-
which communication parameters are used,
-
how the data point is made available within a logic group.
The configured data points are linked to the logic elements within logic groups using the corresponding value inputs and value outputs.
Note
The available data point types and functions may depend on the product used and the installed firmware version.
Managing Data Points
Data point management is opened in the LOGIKEDITOR under System > Data Points.
Different configuration options are available depending on the selected data point type.
Changes to data points are initially made in the working copy and are applied only after clicking Save.
Note
Data points that are already used in active logic groups may only be edited or deleted with certain restrictions.
In this case, the user interface indicates the affected settings and dependencies.
Using Data Points in Logic Groups
Once configured, data points can be used within logic groups.
Depending on the data point type, corresponding logic elements for value inputs and value outputs are available.
A Value Input provides received or read values within the logic.
A Value Output transmits values from the logic to the assigned data point.
In this way, different systems and interfaces can be linked and processed within a logic group.
