Device Volume Control

This section is used to control the volume of the selected Sonos® player.

The following functions are available:

  • Absolute Volume

  • Relative Volume

  • Step Dimming

  • Start/Stop Dimming

  • Mute

Optionally, the current volume can be transmitted to the KNX bus. This ensures that the status remains up to date even if the volume is changed directly on the Sonos® device.

Set Absolute Volume (EIS 6 / 0–100%)

Enter the group address used to set the absolute volume of the device.

The volume is transmitted as a percentage value (0–100%, 0.4% resolution).

Absolute Volume Status (EIS 6 / 0–100%)

Enter the group address used to report the current volume.

The current volume is transmitted as a percentage value (0–100%, 0.4% resolution).

Volume +/- (EIS 1)

Enter the group address used for relative volume control.

Telegram values:

  • 1 = Increase volume

  • 0 = Decrease volume

Volume +/- Step Size (1–20)

Define the step size used for relative volume control.

Valid values: 1 to 20.

Step Dimming (EIS 2 – Relative Dimming)

Enter the group address used for relative step dimming.

The following operations are supported:

  • Short press: Increase or decrease the volume by the step size configured on the KNX push-button.

  • Long press: Continuously increase or decrease the volume using the configured step size.

Note

The step size for step dimming is defined by the KNX push-button.

During a long button press, the push-button cyclically transmits the configured dimming value until the button is released.

Start/Stop Dimming (EIS 2 – Relative Dimming)

Enter the group address used for Start/Stop Dimming.

During a long button press, the Smart Home App automatically sends relative volume steps every 220 ms.

Start/Stop Dimming – Dimming Duration (1000–22000 ms)

Defines the time required for a complete dimming cycle from 0% to 100% or from 100% to 0%.

The Smart Home App automatically calculates the required step size.

Examples:

  • 22000 ms → 100 steps → 1% per step

  • 5000 ms → 23 steps → approximately 4.3% per step
