In this section, the operating mode of the instance is defined.
Two operating modes are available:
-
Group Control
-
Player Information
The selected operating mode determines the function of the instance and the available configuration parameters.
Group Control
This operating mode is used to control one or more Sonos® players.
All commands are sent to every Sonos® device within the selected group. This allows functions such as volume, playback, and playlists to be controlled centrally for the entire group.
A group consists of at least one Sonos® player and belongs to the previously selected Sonos® system.
Player Information
The Player Information operating mode is used to retrieve status information from a single Sonos® player.
This includes, for example:
-
Current playback status
-
Volume
-
Track information and additional metadata
This information can be displayed in visualizations or used for automations, timers, and logic groups.
In addition, this operating mode allows you to:
-
Adjust the volume of the selected Sonos® player independently of the group
-
Trigger announcements
The configuration interface automatically adapts to the selected operating mode.
The individual operating modes are described in the following sections.
