Settings and Google Actions

The BAB Assistant Smart Home App integrates Google Assistant® into your Smart Home based on KNX, EnOcean, and IP.

The BAB Assistant Smart Home App for the BAB APPMODULE communicates with the "BAB TECHNOLOGIE" Google Action.

For a simple and convenient setup, the BAB TECHNOLOGIE Service is used. Like Google itself, the service uses Google Sign-In authentication to establish a secure and unique connection between the BAB APPMODULE and Google.

The same Google account is used to sign in to both Google and the BAB TECHNOLOGIE Service. As part of the secure OAuth authentication process, your Google credentials are never shared with the BAB TECHNOLOGIE Service. Instead, Google provides an encrypted Access Token, allowing the BAB TECHNOLOGIE Service to communicate with the APPMODULE on your behalf.

Connecting the APPMODULE to Google

To connect your BAB APPMODULE to Google, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the configuration interface of the BAB APPMODULE and navigate to App Manager → BAB Assistant.

  2. Click the BAB TECHNOLOGIE Service link and sign in using your Google account.

  3. Enter the serial number and registration key of your APPMODULE.

  4. Copy the generated Access Token to the clipboard.

  5. Return to the configuration interface of the APPMODULE and paste the Access Token into the corresponding field.

  6. Click Validate Access Token to verify the token.

  7. The connection status is checked and displayed only after the instance has been saved.

  8. Open the Google Home app or Google Assistant and navigate to Manage Accounts.

  9. Select the BAB TECHNOLOGIE Google Action and link it to your Google account.

The connection between your BAB APPMODULE and Google Assistant® is now established. Voice commands are forwarded to your APPMODULE via the BAB TECHNOLOGIE Service.

You can now continue configuring the Smart Home App.
