Integration of Alexa with KNX participants, update to EIBPORT V3 skill and data point types
Tip
In order for Alexa to be able to control the KNX units, these devices must be entered with a name in the Alexa Smart Home App Editor. For this purpose, a unique device name (command) should be assigned. Avoid similar device names (commands) such as "light living room", "light corridor" and "light sleeping", because Alexa will ask you which light to switch on/off if she has not understood the command correctly.
Since the apps can interact with each other (if you have loaded several Smart Home Apps in the APPMODULE) via common group addresses, you are able to integrate their functionalities into the voice control with Alexa.
Note on updating to Alexa Skill V3
This note only applies if an existing Smart Home App version 1 (version number 1.x.y) is updated to Smart Home App version 2 (from version number 2.0.0)!
Updating the Smart Home App from version 1 to version 2.0.0 (or higher) initiates the switch to the ‘BAB TECHNOLOGIE EIBPORT V3 Skill’. Your configured devices will be automatically converted for this skill as soon as you save this instance – then this message will no longer appear.
Further steps are necessary to ensure that your Alexa integration works again. You must obtain a new app token from the BAB TECHNOLOGIE Service registration page, enter it here and then save the instance again.
If you have not already done so, activate the " BAB TECHNOLOGIE EIBPORT V3 Skill" in your Alexa account and deactivate the " BAB TECHNOLOGIE APP MODULE" skill.
Since your devices are reported from another skill to Alexa after the switch, Alexa registers them as new devices, even if the internal ID remains the same on our side. You would then see duplicate devices in your Alexa app, with the old devices reporting errors. We therefore recommend manually removing the old devices from the Alexa app before saving this migrated instance to complete the migration.
To be able to use the extended range of functions of the new app version and the new skill, you should also add to your instance configuration, especially state group addresses. It may also be better to move some of your old "Percentage values/Dimming" devices, which you can now find under "Dimmable switches", to the new "Lamps" category. You can reconfigure these manually as required.
